Choosing a theme for your child's birthday can be a really hard choice. A jungle theme is a perfect option for either boy or girl. Pink camo or monkey's on vines are just a few ideas you can start with. This article is full of other great ideas to help make your jungle birthday party a hit with any child.
Sounds: Download jungle and animal sound tracks from your computer to be playing the whole time. (Think birds, tigers, waterfalls, even Tarzan yells.)
Lights: Change your lighting! A great way to do this is to buy green and blue light bulbs to temporarily replace your current ones.
Atmosphere: Pull out all the green plants you own, and borrow or buy some if you don't feel like you have quite enough. Having these plants placed properly will make the party room feel more like the jungle it should be. Posters of jungles, tropical flowers, and waterfalls can also add a nice touch. Set a few jungle animals (stuffed of course) around to add to the scenery. Get some green and blue crepe paper streamers to hang all around as the vines of the jungle.
Party Favor: When each child enters, place a safari hat on their head and announce that they're about to journey through the wild, and you will need the best explorers to help them find what they're looking for.
Treasure Hunt: Plan a treasure hunt to fit the age group you're serving. Keep the treasures simple but exciting and you're sure to win the crowd over. Some items you might want to include:
- Little treats throughout are always a good idea for any age group. It will keep them on the lookout for the next yummy morsel coming their way.
- Make some laminated rocks, treasure crosses, and tropical flowers to help guide their way to the next treasure.
- Rubber snakes and plastic spiders are a sure way to win over any boys at your party. Don't leave out any of the girls that might be coming though! A few 25 cent flower rings will definitely do the trick.
- Give every treasure item "explorer points". Give whoever has the most points at the end of the big hunt a bigger and better prize. Dig in to a treasure box at the end full of candy, treasure coins, jewels, prizes, you name it! Make sure that everyone gets to be a part of the big opening.
The Journey Home:
Just in case you haven't made quite a big enough impression, (like that's possible), send each child home with a small stuffed jungle animal and a little safari treat. It's a party favor that's inexpensive, but also super fun for the kids.
As you can see, there are so many avenues to travel down when planning a jungle themed birthday party. Just using a few of these ideas will make this safari be talked about for years to come!
