worried my baby will fall out of his crib?
my son is 9 months old...he is just starting to climb and stand, i am reallt worried that one of these nights im going to wake up to a thump of my son hitting the floor. when and what can i do to make myself feel better and to make my son safe. my boy friend and i were talking about getting him a big boy bed, but i think he is too young to be out and about in the middle of the night. i am just so scared and confused on what we should do. we have the crib mattress set to the lowest setting possible and his still manages to lift his lil body off the mattress
at the cribs lowest setting, his head is above the railing completly
Make sure that the mattress in his crib is at the lowest setting and remove anything that he could stand on - things like stuffed animals, crib bumpers (if you need a bumper to keep their little arms and legs in the crib, get the breathable mesh ones, they collapse under the weight when they try to stand o them) etc . . . We also have those foam letter floor tiles around the crib for a bit of padding, just in case.
Right around 11 months, my son did exactly that - he used a stuffed animal in the corner of his crib, stood up on it, grabbed the bars and fell out -we just heard the slam (the worst sound ever), thank goodness he was ok. We could not figure out how he did it until we saw him try it again the next day - that is when we lowered the crib mattress all the way down to the lowest setting. The crib wall is now just above his chin so he should be safe for a while.
